Brian Douglas Theriot is a lifelong resident of St. Martin Parish who has proudly served his community as a law enforcement officer for the last 20 years. Brian felt called to serve his community, like his father, Sheriff Ronny Theriot and pursued a career in criminal justice.
Upon graduating from Catholic High School New Iberia in 1991, Brian went on to attend the University of Louisiana Lafayette where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He then continued his education at Louisiana State University where he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
During his career in the Law Enforcement Division of Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries he received numerous awards for his work. Brian attained the rank of Lieutenant and was selected to serve as the LDWF Liaison to the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. He has also been a chemical weapons instructor, a law enforcement rifle instructor and a law enforcement physical fitness specialist. Brian is trained in advanced law enforcement rapid response training and terrorism response tactics.
Brian is married to the love of his life Collette Latiolais Theriot of Catahoula. They are proud Christians who have raised four sons and have one grandson. In his free time, Brian enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandson.
